SRBX | CIEF IS LOOKING FOR A CONTROLLER
The Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange (SRBX) and Construction Industry Education Foundation (CIEF) are looking for an experienced controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of bookkeeping and advanced QuickBooks/QuickBooks Online experience along with a solid understanding of, and experience with, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position requires a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. This is a fulltime position located in our Sacramento, California office and reports to the CEO (a 60-day onboarding will be headed by a financial consultant).
ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE
SRBX is a 501(c)6 trade association representing the commercial construction industry with nearly 1,100 member companies. It is one of the oldest and largest membership organizations in the Sacramento region. CIEF is a 501(c)3 organization working to empower youth to pursue careers in the built environment. In the 2023-2024 school year, CIEF served nearly 10,000 high school students in five states. CIEF operates a chapter model in other states and also has secondary offices in Irvine, California and Dallas, Texas. The joint organizations serve more than 20,000 people per year at workforce, business development, and networking events, in addition to providing an online planroom, education and safety training, and government advocacy. Each organization has a budget in excess of $2 million and their individual boards of directors and finance committees. SRBX and CIEF have 16 full-time employees.

This is a full-time position with supplemental benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, and a 401k savings program. The anticipated salary is $115,000-$120,000 depending on experience. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and provide proof of auto insurance.

ACCOUNTING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain accurate record of financial transactions in QuickBooks Online ensuring compliance with accounting principles and standards
- Execute a monthly close process of the financials
- Manage accounts payables and accounts receivables including bank deposits and segregation of duties
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements
- Monthly reconciliation of the balance sheet
- Monthly reconciliation of donor software to the general ledger
- Monthly reconciliation of intercompany transactions
- Monthly preparation of financial reports and statements for the CEO, Board of Directors, and Chapters
- Maintain cash flow forecast
- Run payroll bi-weekly for employees and process employee reimbursements (through ADP)
- Submission of taxes
- Yearly completion of required PCI compliance on merchant accounts
- Work with the CEO to prepare the annual budget
- Annual processing of W2's and 1099s
- Lead the annual audits/reviews with our external auditors
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to Unemployment, EDD, correspondence and audits
- Maintain employee records showing date of hire, compensation and benefits, leave records and other pertinent personnel data
- Prepare and file employer reports to government agencies, insurance companies, etc.
- Direct the execution of all benefits programs, including health insurance, 401(k) programs, etc.
- Manage the annual insurance renewal process and ensure appropriate coverage is maintained
- Other duties as assigned by the CEO
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 7 years of experience with QuickBooks/QuickBooks Online
- Solid understanding of, and experience with, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of Fundamentals of Accounting including concepts and practices and procedure
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong technology skills and proficiency with all aspects of Microsoft Office suite
- Previous experience with association management software (AMS/CRM) preferred
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and work well with others
