Founded in 1995, the CIEF Scholarships in Architecture is open to minority* students pursuing a career in Architecture and is intended to help increase the representation of minorities in the Architecture profession.
A maximum of five (5) scholarships (new or continuing) are awarded each year to students accepted by a college with a Bachelor of Architecture or a five-year Master of Architecture program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB – www.naab.org).
Each of the five scholarships has an annual $4,000 award per recipient to help defray tuition and expenses. Scholarship recipients who are progressing successfully toward their degree will continue to receive the $4,000 stipend annually, up to a maximum of five years for a total of $20,000.

* “Minority” means a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States, who is an ethnic person of color and who is: Black (a person having origins in any of the Black racial groups of Africa); Hispanic (a person of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central or South American, or other Spanish or Portuguese culture or origin, regardless of race); Native American (an American Indian, Eskimo, Aleut, or Native Hawaiian); Pacific-Asian (a person whose origins are from Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, the Philippines, Samoa, Guam, or the United States Trust Territories of the Pacific, including the Northern Marianas); Asian-Indian (a person whose origins are from India, Pakistan, or Bangladesh).

- Must have a permanent California address
- Must demonstrate minority* status
- Must be enrolled as a first-year new or community college transfer student, pursuing a Bachelor of Architecture Degree or a five-year Master of Architecture program from an NAAB-accredited school or college

- Attach a maximum 500-word statement, expressing the desire to pursue a career in Architecture
- Attach proof of minority* status (e.g. copy of birth certificate)
- Attach a copy of an acceptance letter from an NAAB**-accredited Bachelor of Architecture of five-year Master of Architecture program (must be submitted by August 3, 2020)
- Submit a recent headshot
- Submit a completed Media Release Form
- Applicants who reside in the greater Sacramento area must attend the awards ceremony at the Industry Lunch held at Cosumnes River College on May 6, 2021 from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m.
